A lot of stuff happened in the mean time as Brazil won the Copa America and USA won the Gold Cup. Also Partizan got disqualified from UEFA Cup, only to be given another chance. Partizan won a 2 leg match against Zrinjski from Mostar by 11:1. Jovetic scored 4 goals in two matches and new signing Diara scored 3. Bezanija were upset by Bessa from Albania as they eliminated them from the UEFA Cup and Vojvodina beat Hibernians from Malta. Red Star Belgrade won their first leg of the second round Champions League qualifying as they beat Levadia 1:0 at home. Shall they pass Levadia, Red Star will face Rangers for the spot in the Champions League

This Week's Interesting Stories:

A lot of good soccer this week and a lot of transfers. In EURO 2008 Qualifying, Armenia made a sensational shock by defeating Poland 1:0, Finland defeated Belgium 2:0 and Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan played a 1:1 draw. Serbia and Portugal sitting this one out and is almost clear that Portugal and Serbia will be the contenders for the first spot in that group as Poland seems to be losing the "magic touch". Another great game took place in Zagreb, Croatia where Croatia and Russia ended in a 0:0 draw, but an excellent played game with a lot of attacking football. As far as club football goes, it's very interesting that Buffon extended his contract with Juventus even though he said that he wanted to leave, the contract is valid until 2012 when Buffon will probably end his career. Roberto Carlos will join LA Galaxy as his contract had expired with Real Madrid and will join Galaxy on a free transfer, nothing new on Ivica Kralj who is also supposed to sign for the LA side. Frank Ribery the Frenchman has signed a contract with Bayern Munich and Finally, Danko Lazovic had signed with PSV Eindhoven. He is the second Serbian in 3 years to wear number nine for the club after Mateja Kezman a.k.a "Batman". Lazovic reminds me more of the "Punisher" which is what he literately does for a living 'punishing the opposing team for every mistake made and sometimes has a problem with his attitude" In the next post I will give every Serbian player who is in the starting 'A' squad a Super Hero nickname. Thank you for reading this post.

Ivica Kralj In LA Galaxy?

Many rumours are flowing around that the former Yugoslavian goalkeeper Ivica Kralj could resume his career in USA. LA Galaxy have announced that they are very interested in obtaining Kralj's services. Ivica Kralj stated, "I would have no problems playing on a team with a great player like David Beckham." Ivica Kralj vas capped more than 50 times for the Yugoslavian national team and is currently playing for Partizan Belgrade. After Sasa Curcic, Ivica Kralj would only be the second Yugoslavian (Serbian) player in the MLS (Excluding Preki). It's an interesting fact that Curcic is an ex- Partizan Belgrade player as well.

Lazovic in PSV or Arsenal???

A lot of speculation and rumours lately about Serbian striker Danko Lazovic's future. After having an excellent season so far with Vitesse Arnhem the former FK Partizan striker is on a verge of moving to a super club like PSV or Arsenal. PSV reportedly have offered 4 million dollars for Lazovic while Arsenal's coach Arsene Wenger has announced to be very interested in obtaining this young striker as well. Lazovic currently has a contract with Vitesse untill June, 2010. It would be interesting to see this striker who reminds of Van Basten alongside with Thiery Henry. I would really like to see him play in Arsenal and show the world his true potential. At age 23 this man has played in U-21 UEFA Championships final and semifinal and also has been capped by Serbian A team 10 times already and managed to score 3 times. So far he scored 17 times for Vitesse this season and is in good form to hit the 20 mark.
